Dear Duffers:
On May 16th, The Committee had a lengthy conversation with Radius Hospitality, the management company responsible for directing the remodeling and reopening of Atwood. The Radius representative we spoke to is the project manager for the renovation.
Several key points:
The lodge and par three will open later this summer.
The regulation golf course (Atwood Open tournament site), will have nine holes open Spring of next year (2013). Seven of the front nine holes will be modified between now and then , but effectively, the front nine will reflect most of the design of the previous front nine.
The back nine will NOT OPEN until Spring of 2014. This is because Radius is going to replace and redesign all nine holes. Major reasons for replacing this nine are some of the hole lay-outs, and particularly, a number of the putting surfaces that are somewhat gimmicky, and slow down play.
According to Radius, the Conservation District has retained the ownership of the cabins. Radius is not sure what the district intends to do with them. There is some very general discussions about having Radius manage them. When an on site observation was made by a Committee member on Mother's Day, it was observed, there had been a lot of clearing of the woods around the cabins, but at this point, the cabins look to be what they have always been.
Please stay current with any updates as The Committee will be looking at having a get together as early as next spring.
X
The Committee
