Rules for Atwood Open Scramble Match
(Teams and Schedules will be announced tomorrow on the website.)
1) It is a Two-Man Scramble, modified format, in a 9 hole match.
2) Each Player must hit at least two drives in the 1st five holes, and at least three drives each by the match’s completion.
3) One point is scored for each hole. A hole can be halved. The winning Team scores an additional 3 points for winning the match. Matches can be halved as well. The match has a total of 12 points. Play all matches to completion.
4) There are 4 brackets. Every Team plays every Team in its bracket. IF YOU WIN YOUR BRACKET,YOU ARE IN THE SEMI-FINALS (Sweet Sixteen Players and Final Four Teams). The assigned brackets, not the point totals, determine whom your semi-final opponents will be.
5) The Committee, coordinating with the Golf Shop, determines which of the nines will host the Play-off(s) Nine(s).
6) If two or more teams tie for a Play-off spot, Hole #10 will be played- barring any Non-Atwood Open Golfer interference, then #11 if required, etc.
7) When a Team must use an out of bounds shot from the Fairway; it is a Stroke Penalty from where the ball went out of bounds. It is NOT Stroke and Distance. If both tee balls are OB; the Team may elect to hit their 3rd shot from the tee.
8) On hole #7 (Water Tower), hole #13, and hole #17, where a road may come into plan, a shot on or over the road is out of bounds. “ON” is on the asphalt.
9) When choosing the ball to play, one club length of relief is allowed. However, whatever surface (i.e. rough, sand, wood chips), you are in- must be the surface of the place you put your ball.
10) NEW AND IMPROVED GREENS FEES POLICY : Captains will collect $50 from each team member to cover all golf fees for both days. Captains see Committee Designee on patio who will exchange money for golf cart keys. NO CREDIT CARDS WILL BE ACCEPTED FOR PAYMENT IN THE PRO SHOP FOR GREENS FEES. This will minimize delays in getting started and make getting matches paired a lot simpler. We will not have to listen to DOG (TF) bark/squeak out directions three times and no long lines at pro-shop cash register either day. A little earlier arrival on Friday will save everyone lots of time and questions for all matches all week-end.
11) Shotguns begin at 11:00 AM sharp on Friday, and 8:00 AM sharp on Saturday. If a team is missing a player, the remaining Partner- if he is classified as “better” then the MIA, plays traditional single golfer rules through the green (one putt – no second shots on previous shot). A Player classified as “worst” of the two- has two swings on each shot until the green. There one putt continues until, or if, MIA shows. This is a real pain for the other Players- so be there on time. GOT IT, JORDAN?
12) Your scorecard will have your match and starting hole on it. Captains will receive them in exchange for $20 each for prize money that he delivers to Committee Designee.
13) Teams 1-8 will shotgun on the Front Nine, and Teams 9-16 will shotgun on the Back Nine. Second Round will be reversed. If you start on Hole #8, go to #9 then go to #10, NOT #1. Every Team will play almost, if not all, holes on both Nine’s by the end of Friday.
ON SATURDAY: We will shotgun start on Hole #3 - #18. Same policy for where to go after playing #9 or #18. If you are not sure- Ask Purdy.
Captains are responsible for authenticating all matches upon completion and delivering to the DOA.
14) “Final Four” will begin at approximately 11:00 AM.
